Information for international students

Although all degree programs at both faculties are taught in Czech, foreign students can study in English or German in the lifelong learning programs. JAMU can boast, at present, a relatively high number of foreign students (66); this figure includes students from the Slovak Republic. Foreign students can study at either faculty, either free of charge as full-time students after they have successfully passed the entrance examination (the study programs are in Czech), or within the lifelong learning program, for which tuition fees are charged. For these students and for the students in the SOCRATES/ERASMUS program, lessons in the Czech language are organized by JAMU.

International partners

At the present time the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts has 42 partner institutions in the countries of the European Union, Eastern Europe and the Far East. JAMU is a member of four major international networks:

  • ELIA (European League of Institutes of the Arts),
  • ENCATC (European Network of Cultural Administration Training Centres),
  • PROSPERO (European Network of Higher Vocational Education Institutes in the Performing Arts) and
  • AEC (Association Européenne des Conservatoires, Académies de Musique et Musikhochschulen).

The CHAIN program links 17 music universities. The main program at JAMU for teacher and student mobility is SOCRATES/ERASMUS.
