The enormous spread of multimedia in all spheres of today´s life brings about an urging necessity to adapt the curriculums of artistic degree courses, which very often utilise multimedia within their own regions, to the newly arising conditions and needs. Thus the graduates of these courses will be ready to cope with the specific features of multimedia artistic work and production. This ability includes not only closer acquaintance with those fields of art that are not the main subject of studies at the given university but also with the complex area of multimedia production as such. This approach will significantly extend the students´ scope of artistic expression, which will naturally generate more job opportunities for them after the graduation.
The faculties involved in the project - namely The Music Faculty and The Theatre Faculty of The Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno, The Faculty of Arts of The Masaryk University and The Faculty of Fine Arts - Brno University of Technology - have therefore decided to create appropriate conditions for the students of the concerned courses to enable them to acquire the basic knowledge of and skills in the multimedia sphere. Each faculty will prepare a range of multimedia-focused modules corresponding to the field of art (music, theatre, dance, fine arts, technology and theory) that the given faculty is supposed to provide for. Subsequently, these courses will be offered to the students from the universities participating in the project. The created network of faculty-based courses will be complemented by specialised workshops under the direction of various Czech and foreign lecturers.
The project sets up a tangible prerequisite for the development and improvement in the content of arts-focused degree courses at the participating universities. The Inovation of programmes via the extention of their subject range by multimedia subjects responses to the increasing requirements for university graduates´ skills generated by the labour market. These requirements are the side effects of the changes in the contemporary society relating to the development of information technologies and multimedia utilization.
Besides the development of the existing programmes, the project´s results will also be used for the preparation of a programme "Multimedia and Audio-visual Production", a new course of study that is currently being planned by The Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts in cooperation with The Faculty of Arts of The Masaryk University and The Faculty of Fine Arts - Brno University of Technology .
